news from nashville! - March 3, 2007
WOW! What a trip to Nashville! Not only did we get a lot accomplished, we met a lot of great people!
*The Tracy Byrd show Wednesday night was fabulous! Nothing like
having front row, center seats for the evening! Watching and listening
to Tracy sing hit after hit helped me remember why I love to sing his songs, and why he's considered a superstar in the country music world!
*The time in the studio Thursday with my producer Tom Paden was cool.
We got some pre-session stuff done, and we had the opportunity to meet one of Tom's best friends in Nashville Eddie Kilgallon. Eddie is an exceptional singer/songwriter and actually was a co-writer on George Strait's #1 hit song "One Night At A Time" (which stayed at the top of
the charts for 5 weeks!). Beyond the fact that Eddie has those incredible talents, he's also the keyboard/piano player for country mega-stars Montgomery Gentry! I will be recording a song or two of Eddie's on my next CD.
*Friday was kick-back time (or at least we thought) and we spent the day in downtown Nashville visiting the Country Music Hall of Fame and various honky tonks in town. It's a pretty cool deal when you're
touring the Hall of Fame, minding your own business, and someone recognizes you from the MySpace site! I guess that's a step in the
right direction! We grabbed a beer and took in a few of the live music venues in town, and somehow I got called to the stage at the world famous Nashville
place Tootsie's(www.tootsies.net) to do a couple of songs. It was
awesome (we kicked butt!), and I don't think I payed for another drink the rest of the night (even the bartenders bought some rounds)!!
We've got some pictures posted here at the website
(http://www.jerryschickling.com/photos.html) from the trip, so I hope you enjoy them.
*I'll actually be hitting the studio in April or May, and we expect to have the CD produced, mastered, and ready to go by late May or the beginning of June!

5th Annual CAST Concert April 14th! - March 1, 2007
Jerry and North Country preparing for a great night of country music Saturday April 14th at the Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre (CAST)!!
*First, once again this year Tom Bezilla will open the
show. Those of you who were at the concert last year know what a fantastic singer/guitar player/performer Tom is! Everyone was thrilled with Tom's performance, and we're excited to have him back again this year!
*Next, this will be the first time that Jerry's had the whole band at the CAST Theatre. The theme for this years show will be built around lots of his new songs that he'll be recording in Nashville for his new CD. Jerry and the band are looking forward to playing many of the new tunes, as well as lots of the country music favorites y'all love!
Also in the planning is an abbreviated pre-view of Jerry's new song/video "Unknown Soldier". If you'd still like to help out with the video, you can email pictures to
photos@jerryschickling.com. Feel free to email us if you have any questions about mailing them to us.
*Also this year Jerry's working with a charity named "Catch-A-Dream Foundation". Catch-A-Dream was founded in late 2000 to provide consumptive use outdoor experiences to fill the "gap" created when the Make-A-Wish Foundation established national policy that precludes granting a child a wish that involves hunting or use of "...firearms, hunting bows, or other hunting or sport-shooting equipment."
Catch-A-Dream grants once-in-a-lifetime outdoor experiences to children 18 years old or younger who have a life-threatening illness.
Catch-A-Dream has touched over 140 families to date. They have granted outdoor adventures for children from 43 states, and hope to have touched lives in all of the 50 states and Canada in the very near future.
A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to Catch-A-Dream! You can get more info about this great charity at
http://www.catchadream.org.
*The ticket price for the show is $7.00/person. You can order them in advance by calling the CAST Theatre at (814)765-4474. They will also be available at the door the night of the show.
Door will open at 7:00 p.m. and Tom will kick the show off at 7:30.
You can also click this link:

Recent feedback from around the world! - December 11, 2006
"For independent artists, getting airplay on broadcast radio stations is less likely today than at any time in the past. Realizing that there are thousands of quality groups/acts looking for your ears is one reason we've taken to highlighting the better ones here.
Jerry Schickling's "It's a Good Thing" has sing-along-simple lyrics and a bouncy melody. He's one of many indie artists featured at RRadio Music" ~ Ken Dardis, RRadio Music
"Different intro to norm. Good lyrics. Good use of vocals. Not the
normal flat song. Good crisp recording..." ~ Ken Randall, Radio Great Southern Australia 1422 am
"Great song "It's A Good Thing". Good voice Jerry.
I am writing you from Romania. I am the owner of Country Do Club Romania and my
company produces
syndicated radio shows with country music for 12 radio stations across
Romania including National R3 Romania station
"www.Radio3net.ro". I am a Sterling Member of CMA,the only one in Eastern Europe(#503088)" ~ Dorin Marincas, Transylvania Cowboy
" I wanted to share something with you. A very nice elderly lady who
listens to my Internet radio station emailed me awhile back to let me know
she loves your song "It's A Good Thing". She said "the song makes me feel
young again and it was so nice to hear positive music such as this".
You are doing something right when people feel your music. Thanks again
for giving us the opportunity to share your music with our listeners." ~
Steven Carter, Eagle Country Radio
"Jerry, your website looks great! It always a great pleasure to get the opportunity to work with talented artists such as yourself, Keep up the great work!" ~ Mark Trail M-T-M Nashville
"Jerry, saw your show at Ringgold last night. Great show! Was there with my wife, beautiful young lady with the cowboy hat on. I was the old man with the Yankee hat on. We sat in the middle of the band up front on lawn chairs for the first set. We stood behind the bleechers in the center for the second set. We had a great time! Drove 2 hours to get there!"
